Hello friends! Help me please! Today I need your help, because this is a difficult topic: books for children 4 5 years list. Tell me, how did you entice your child with a book? Agree, this is not an easy task. After all, we live in a world where games and various kinds of entertainment are available in any format. And because of this, our conversation will take place not quite normally. I will share my knowledge. But this is mostly a theory. I expect practical tips from you. For example, what library for reading you picked up your kids?
Do you know what the book means to your child?
We read to our crumbs from the very infancy. And some mothers do it before the birth of the crumbs. Does this mean that the kid knows and loves fairy tales, fascinating stories and he has favorite authors?
How much importance literature occupies in the life of a karapuz can be judged by the fact:
- how often can he be seen reading
- whether he tells about what he finds out
- asks if you advise him to read the works,
- Do you listen when you share something new from the world of literature?
In this case, it is not necessary to set an inflated level for the crumbs: “so many books still need,” “and even these and these authors.”
Remember! Your baby is special. And he has his own “plan” for development. Your role is to watch and gently help.
How do you do it? Is it easy for you in this matter?
Knowledge is not heavy, do not wear behind your back
The dream of adults - their baby with a book in their hands. Educational books are the easiest and most interesting way:
- open the mind,
- develop curiosity
- replenish vocabulary
- prepare for school
- instill interest in languages. For example, English, German or French is easier for children, if together with the toddler not only learn grammar, but also read poems in a foreign language.
And the example of the life of the characters can explain how to behave correctly in a given situation.
Do books help you answer the difficult questions of your crumbs?
How to help love books
You can only help by example. If there is not even a small library at home, how can a small one understand that books are interesting, good and necessary in his life?
Read for yourself and your toddler. Do not wait for a special time to acquaint with an unusual tale or story about the New Year adventures of heroes. Everywhere and always you can get a collection of Andersen and spend interesting time. When the baby eats, and when you sit in line to the doctor, at night and in the morning. Pick up such works that will be interesting to the kid.
Do you have your own secret how to add a karapuz to literature?
And where will parents learn how to help children?
Parents can also be helped by a book that tells them who their babe is, what his needs are, how to help them love literature or stories with tots. classes. Some of them should be aimed at solving certain problems, for example, with pronunciation. Then we need speech therapy expert advice.
I hope. Our meeting today was productive. We conducted a small review of literary works. You have received answers to your questions, I - to yours. Thank you so much for this! I invite you to subscribe to receive new articles to participate in the discussion of important topics! I am waiting for you in my blog. Come on in, don't forget to tell your friends about our interesting conversations.
Stories of Irina Tokmakova about Alyu, Klyaksich and Vrednyuga
"Alya, Klyaksich and the letter" A "- wonderful fairy tale for children 4-6 years! The child, fascinated by the adventures of the girl Ali, who got into the ABC - the country of letters, not only empathizes with the heroes, but also really helps them by completing tasks and thus helping the girl to find the letters L and I hidden by the cunning Klyaksich. My children liked these games while reading!
The story is divided into small chapters, and almost every chapter has tasks for readers. The tasks are simple: draw a line of sticks or circles, draw a fir-tree or write numbers. Moreover, the main character gives the assignment: Alya addresses the children, asks for help, and the children each time with joy run to draw, training the arm, preparing it for the letter.
Very pretty edition with illustrations by the famous artist Chizhikov published in the publishing house "Labyrinth". The size of the book is 260x200x10 mm, 64 pages, high-quality printing, a lot of drawings - on almost every page.
In this fun educational tale, the girl Ala travels the ABC along with the letter “A”. They definitely need to defeat the evil Klyaksich, who decided to replace all the letters with his relatives - blots. The heroes of this book will need the help of little readers: you must perform simple, but interesting tasks. With such support, Alya and her assistants will surely achieve their goal: they will save letters and drive Klyaksich out of the ABC.
The inhabitants of the Alphabet - fabulous letters and punctuation marks - will meet their readers in the images of funny little people, birds and animals. With such they saw and painted an unsurpassed master, People's Artist of Russia Viktor Chizhikov.
We liked the first story about Alyu and Klyaksich so much that I bought a book that contains all Tokmakova's stories about these heroes - “Alya, Klyaksich and the letter“ A ”,“ Maybe Zero is not to blame? ”And“ Alya, Klyaksich and Vrednyuga ".
It turned out that in the second and third story there are much less tasks for the reader, and the children waited for them to be in each chapter. Therefore, I had to invent puzzles in the course of the text. This is not difficult to do, the text, as they say, has.
In the first two stories, Alya is still a preschool child, and in the third she is already a first-grade student. And the themes in the book change accordingly: in the first two stories we get acquainted with letters and numbers. Therefore, these works can begin to read even with kids 4 years old. But the latter - "Ala, Klyaksich and Vrednyuga" - is designed for younger school age. In this story, the spelling rules are affected, called percussion and unstressed vowels. The child must be familiar with these concepts in order to follow the narration. And I got the impression that the third story is more suitable for independent reading than "for reading by older children."
Stories of Nikolay Nosov
Deceptively simple, slightly instructive and funny stories invented by Nikolai Nosov are loved not by one generation - our grandparents read them, our parents read when they were children, and we ourselves, it was time to read these stories to our children.
The collection "Bobby visiting Barbosa and other stories" is a good choice to acquaint a child of 4-6 years old (and maybe a little older) with this author. A good selection of stories, high-quality printing, a good size (22x17 cm.), Solid volume (240 p.), Classic illustrations by Ivan Semenov. The book is pleasant to take in hand. Personally, I was very pleased that this book included the stories "Cog, Shpuntik and Vacuum Cleaner" and "Bobby Visiting Barbosa", which had previously been published as separate books.
Although I included this collection of Nosov in list of the best books for children 4-6 yearshowever, Nosov's stories cannot be limited to this framework. Both preschoolers and younger students can read them.
Contents: Cog, Shpuntik and vacuum cleaner / Live hat / Putty / Hide-and-seek / Workers / Car / Patch / Metro / Stairs / When we laugh / And I help / Karasik / Lookers / Mishkina porridge / Shurik at his grandfather / Cucumbers / Policeman / Bobby in Visiting Barbosa / Lollipop / About Turnip / On the Hill / Sasha / Resourcefulness / About Gena / Fedina Task / Blot / Three Hunters
Children's reading book
Sometimes we are faced with the task of buying a book, where the widest possible range of works for children will be presented. There are a lot of similar collections on sale. I recommend paying attention to the book. "Great reader for reading in kindergarten", issued by the publisher "Machaon".
Bright illustrations, good selection of works, rather large font. The collection includes poems by various authors, fairy tales and stories from the best children's authors (Nosov, Dragunsky, Oseeva) and classics of Russian literature (Bazhov, Kataev, Mamin-Sibiryak, A. Tolstoy).
The book is quite large and heavy (weight: 1184, dimensions: 292x220x26 mm), it may be difficult for a small child to handle it independently. Including therefore I recommend the book for joint reading.
Here is a wonderful collection of children's classics, intended for children from 3 to 6 years. Now you do not have to wrestle with what else to read to your baby, and maybe even the whole company of his friends. This collection has everything: funny and instructive stories, good poems, the most beloved fairy tales, stories about nature. Introducing the young listeners with the best works of recognized masters of prose and poetry, you will, together with them, discover the most wonderful and amazing country - the Land of Books - day after day. Our reader will probably be a wonderful gift and will occupy a worthy place in your home library or in the kindergarten library.
Tutta Karlsson First and only, Ludwig the Fourteenth and others
A wonderful instructive story about the friendship of a fox and a chicken, about loyalty, family and justice, written by the Swedish writer Jan Ekholm in 1965. The story has been repeatedly reprinted and filmed. Based on this tale, the cartoons "Like foxes and chickens became friends" and "Little Redhead", the feature film "Red, honest, in love" were filmed.
I compared two editions of this fairy tale, and for myself I chose a book from the publishing house Melik-Pashayev. This is a classic translation of Gryshchenko / Maximova with pictures by Boris Diodorov.
The fairy tale “Tutta Karlsson the First and the Only, Ludwig the Fourteenth and Others”, after a long break, came back to us in the form that can rightfully be called a classic. A cheerful and instructive story about friendship, loyalty and adventures, written by Jan Ekholm in 1965, is told in an excellent language in the best traditions of the Russian school of literary translation by Antonina Maximova and Yevgenia Grishchenko. But of course, when they talk about this book, first of all, amazing images of heroes - a youngster and a chicken, created by the most famous Russian book illustrator Boris Diodorov come to life.
On sale you can also find "Tuttu Karlsson" in the edition of "Machaon", with a different (slightly simplified) translation and more "childish" illustrations. This book is better suited for children 5-6 years old, but I try to take books "for growth", which is why I chose the book from Melik-Pashayeva, although both publications are of high quality and interesting in their own way.
The Golden Key, or the Adventures of Pinocchio
The Golden Key is one of the best children's fairy tales created during the Soviet period. And let it be written based on the tale of Carlo Collodi about Pinocchio, the image of Pinocchio, created by the classic of Soviet literature Alexei Tolstoy, has long since lived its own life.
"The creation of the story began with the fact that in 1923-1924, Alexei Nikolaevich Tolstoy, being in emigration, began work on the story of Pinocchio, The History of the Wooden Doll, by Carlo Collodi, which he wanted to publish in Russian in his literary work. In the spring of 1934 year, Tolstoy decided to return to the fairy tale, postponing work on the trilogy “Going on a Chill.” At that time, the writer came to his senses after a myocardial infarction.
At first, Tolstoy rather accurately conveyed the plot of an Italian fairy tale, but then he got carried away with the original idea and created the story of the hearth painted on the old canvas and the golden key. Alexey Nikolaevich went far from the original plot, not only because he was outdated for the period of socialist realism: Collodi’s fairy tale is full of moralism and instructive maxims, but Tolstoy wanted to breathe more heroism and adventurism into the heroes. " »My video review - "Golden Key" in the series "Open the book"
"Doctor Aibolit", a fairy tale for children of 4, 5, 6 and 7 years
In the same series where the book “The Golden Key” was published, “Doctor Aibolit” is printed - a wonderful fairy tale for children of 4-7 years old.
Korney Ivanovich Chukovsky in the world of children's literature is a recognized authority. Yes, probably, in the "domestic" sense, many works of Chukovsky are somewhat outdated. But, in my opinion, Chukovsky’s books must be in any children's library, no matter what size it is. And if the poems of this author are addressed to the youngest readers, then the story-tale "Doctor Aibolit" is suitable for grown up boys and girls. Please note - this is not a poem that we all know. This is quite a large prose children's work in two parts. In addition, published on good paper and with classic illustrations of Chizhikov.
The same illustrations can be seen in another edition of "Doctor Aibolit" - from the Petroglyph Publishing House. This book is cheaper, it is slightly larger, but it has fewer pages, and the cover is a bit more modest. These are probably the most noticeable differences. The rest of the book is very similar.
"The good doctor Aibolit knows everything in the world. He treats both children and animals, and the girl Tanya, the boy Vanya, the dog Abba, the parrot Karudo and other faithful comrades help him with it. Together they are not afraid of evil pirates or toothy sharks, nor the treacherous robber Barmalej, because strong friendship helps to cope with any difficulties. " »Chukovsky's best children's books
Smart doggy Sonya and other books by Andrey Usachev for children 4-6 years old
Andrey Usachev wrote his “Smart Dog Sonya” in the 90s - at first it was a cartoon illustration script, then a collection of stories appeared. Usachev’s children's books are deservedly popular, many of them are republished; this is also true of Sony's Doggie, one of his most successful books.
A good edition of "Sony's Dog" released by the publishing house "Onyx". The book is quite large, bright large illustrations, easily readable font, humor, accessible to both children and adults, unobtrusive edification, recognizable author's syllable, a good narrative format - small stories. With this book, you can begin to get acquainted with the work of Usachev.
In this book, writer Andrei Usachev collected incredible stories about the royal mongrel Sonya, who really wanted to become smarter. They talked about how Sonya learned good manners, and how she understood why they eat tasty foods a little and not taste good snacks, and why little can be much better.
I mentioned the Usachev books in the review of the New Year books - his stories about the village of Dedmorozovka are known and popular, the author wrote three sequels of the first book, and all of them have already been reprinted several times.
Loved my children book "Wrong tales". It is unusual - Usachev redid popular fairy tales in the "wrong." Of course, in order to enjoy reading and understand the author’s jokes, the child must know the original fairy tales. My boys giggled when I read this book to them. Especially they like to reread the story about the tummy, which came bun-pampushka, pie-teeth-click, cake-no-arms-without-legs. And about the fish-turnip.
I can not say that this is exactly the book, which must necessarily be in any children's library. However, if Usachev likes you and your children, pay attention to her.
"Flower-seven-flower" and other fairy tales of Kataev, a collection for children 4-8 years old
Valentin Kataev wrote at least two fairy tales that every citizen of our country probably knows. These are "Fife and jug" and "Flower-seven-flower". In addition to these two fairy tales, the collection from Onyx publishing house includes two more works by Kataev - Stump and Mushrooms. Did I say "collection"? It will be correct to say "collections"!
Publisher "Onyx" released simultaneously two similar books. The first difference, immediately apparent, is, of course, the cover and size. There are some differences in the illustrations. In a small book (on the cover of which a boy and a girl are sitting on a bench), oddly enough, there are more illustrations. These are mostly small pictures - a basket of mushrooms, a piece of meadow, trees in the forest, an old clock, a sparrow. But there are several plot illustrations, which for some reason were not included in a large book. It can also be noted that some of the illustrations in a large edition are cropped in comparison with a small book. The rest of the book is identical: the same stories, one artist, one author.
Deniskin's Stories by Dragoon
Cheerful, kind and instructive Dragoon stories about Denis Korablev are widely known and popular. Dragoon publish a lot, but not all books can be recommended for purchase. I advise you to pay attention to the edition with drawings by Soviet artist Veniamin Losev. The price for this book is quite high. But for this price, the reader receives one of the most complete collections of “Deniskin Stories” with classical illustrations. The book is large and heavy, the font is not large, so it will not be suitable for independent reading by a child. But if you are going to read these stories to a child of 5-6 years old, then this edition will probably fit like no other.
The stories of Deniska Korablev are included in the school curriculum of literature, they are published and republished with unchanged success.
Our book is special. The illustrations for it were made by the outstanding Russian illustrator of the children's book Losin Veniamin Nikolayevich, who many times painted “Deniskins stories”. In our book for the first time collected the best versions of illustrations by V. Losin, published in various publications.
The edition from EKSMO is cheaper, and there are only sixteen stories in it. But this is also a good book - in a hard, pleasant to the touch cover, with good paper, in a convenient format. This book is suitable for independent reading of a child - the font is rather large, the text contains the letter "e" (now publishers like to replace "e" with "e" - even in children's books - and this can confuse the child).
Tales of Pushkin
Is it possible to leave review of children's books for children 4-6 years without the book "The Sun of Russian Poetry" - Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin?
At the moment, as I see it, there are two competing editions of Pushkin's fairy tales. In terms of content, they are the same - they feature five fairy tales (the Tale of the Golden Cockerel, the Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish, the Tale of the Priest and his Worker Balda, the Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Heroes, the Tale of Tsar Saltan). Therefore, choosing, pay attention to the design of the book. I’ll say right away that I liked the Golden Fairy Tales edition more - it was him that I purchased at the home library. But the book "All the Stories of Pushkin" is also popular. There is some slyness in the title of this book - Pushkin’s fairy tales are not five, but more. For completeness in the publication of the lack of works "The Groom" and "The Tale of the Bear". However, for the child, they are not mandatory.
The book "Golden Fairy Tales" is notable for the magnificent illustrations of the master - artist Alexei Dmitrievich Reipolsky. These are true works of art, a book of rather large format (312x250x16 mm), therefore the illustrations are visible in all details. High-quality paper, dense, coated, but it almost does not glare. At the end of the book there is a small dictionary, which explains the meaning of some obsolete words, for example, "finger", "front room", "chuprun".
I repeat - I chose this edition.
However, the book "All the Stories of Pushkin" is no less popular. It is slightly cheaper, and its size is slightly smaller, but the illustrations by Alexander Lebedev are also interesting, bright, and characteristic. Each tale begins with a beautifully decorated turn with the title of the work. Take a look my video reviewto get a better idea of this book.
A very good edition of Pushkin's fairy tales was published by Machaon publishing house in the series Library of Children's Classics.
I like this whole series - these are inexpensive, but high-quality books. And this book also turned out very good, with wonderful, truly Russian illustrations by Vladimir Korkin. If you are looking for the publication of Pushkin's fairy tales at a price half as much as the books I have described above, this book may interest you.
Other books for children 4, 5, 6 years
What else to pay attention to?
Since the recommendations for the age of the child are rather relative, I advise you to look at the list of the best books for children from 2 to 4 years old and in the list of books for schoolchildren. It is possible that there you will find books that will suit you and your child.
See also my review. books Tyukhtyaeva "Zoki and Bada" and "School zokov and Bada". The first book is suitable for sharing with child 5-6 years old. The characters of these books - big and reasonable Bud and small shebutnye, naughty zoki - by the will of the authors are involved in a variety of stories - and in these stories we guess the situations that young parents and their children usually face.
The books of Marshak and Chukovsky are oriented at about the same age. I especially want to mention the voluminous edition of "Marshak. Poems and fairy tales for the little ones" with illustrations by artists Trepenok and Bordyug. The book is suitable for children 4-5 years.
See the list of the best children's themed encyclopedias, among which there are books on age from 4 to 6 years- we read, we learn, we learn the world. Personally, I like a large series of translated, richly illustrated books "Your First Encyclopedia". In this series, you can pick up books for any young reader: anyone interested in dinosaurs can use the book Million Years BC, lovers of fairy tales can be pleased with the publications All About Fairies and Magic and Dragons. Look and choose, books are inexpensive (which is a rarity for encyclopedias), and they cost their money.
Educational audio and paper books about Chevostik and Uncle Kuzyu - excellent content and performance. My eldest son at the age of five was very fond of these characters: Chevostik is a fabulous why-living book living in the library with all-knowing uncle Kuzi. The books are written in the form of a cognitive dialogue of Chevostik and Uncle Kuzi. The font is large, the pages are white, the paper offset - does not glare.
An important topic for any boy - Books about the war.
And of course child 4, 5, 6 years can already learn to read by yourself in colorful alphabets and primers.
Alphabet and ABC.
Poems by different authors
Poems are a blessed material that perfectly develops a child's ability to speak and feel the rhythm of words. Cheerful and instructive, they are close to kids 3 years old, and are well remembered at four years and at 5 years old. Among the authors of poems are such grandees of our literature as Agniya Barto, Yunna Moritz, Sergey Mikhalkov, Korney Chukovsky, Samuil Marshak, Valentin Berestov, Boris Zakhoder. We give only a small list of the best works:
- fairy tale "Bear-Unbeliever", a collection of poems under the general title "The Girl of the Dirty," "Masha" by Agnes Barto,
- the book “Mustache-striped”, a wise tale about a foolish little mouse, “Children in a cage”, “The tale of a smart little mouse”, moralizing “The Cat's House” by Samuel Marška,
- exciting “Aibolit”, cheerful “Fly-Tsokotuha”, instructive “Moidodyr”, funny “Confusion” by Korney Chukovsky,
- the well-known “What do you have?”, the famous “Uncle Stepa”, about “Thomas” and “My puppy” by Marshak.
Many of these poems were read to today's mothers. Well remembered, with an interesting plot, they are loved by many generations. For the three-year-olds and older children wrote and AS Pushkin. Kids respond well to the "Golden Fish" of the great Russian poet. Later, you can offer the little treasure other fairy tales of Russian classics, for example, "The Tale of Tsar Saltan".
Tales of Russian and foreign
Such, for example, about Masha and the Three Bears, Teremok, the Wolf and the Seven Little Kids, the Three Little Pigs, Puss in Boots, and the Turnip. Unfamiliar works are best read by adults. Russian and foreign fairy tales do not always differ in ease of perception for kids. They are full of obsolete, incomprehensible to the crumbs of words, can carry questionable morality. Choose fairy tales that you know well yourself, or those recommended by child reading experts. Carefully study the contents of the book.
Modern writers for children
The undisputed leader among contemporary children's writers can be considered Eduard Ouspensky. Many of his works served as a plot for famous Soviet cartoons. The world-famous "Cheburashka", who conquered millions of small hearts, the sensible Crocodile Gena and the playful monkey Anfisa - the children adore them. Children of 4-5 years old must read about the trinity from Prostokvashino.
We offer a video review of mom's 3 favorite books: "Three from Prostokvashino", "Winnie the Pooh", "Kid and Carlson."
Victor Suteev's stories with colorful illustrations, which doubles the kids' interest in this book. Simple, but instructive plots "magic wands", "Who said" Meow "," Sack of Apples ", have a huge social overtones. They teach to act fairly, to do good, to respect others. Excellent material that helps in the education of the main qualities of a person. The story of the chicken and duckling clearly shows why you should not be a “repeat” and you should always have your own opinion. Books by other authors:
- Gregory Oster - "38 Parrots", or a touching story about a kitten named Gav, "The Adventures of Pyth."
- Alan Milne - "Winnie the Pooh and all-all-all."
- Nikolay Nosov - a series of stories about "Dunno and his friends", "Living hat", "Mishkina porridge".
- Galina Alexandrov is a funny epic about Domomenka Kuzyu.
- D.Ch. Harris, who presented the world of childhood tales of Uncle Remus.
- Vsevolod Nestayko - "Forest School".
- Sergey Kozlov - “Lion and Turtle” and “Try! Hello!".
- Vitaly Bianki - "Forest Houses", "How the Ant hastened home."
- Alexander Volkov has written many interesting books, but only the “Wizard of the Emerald City” is suitable for kids over three years old.
Active Books (Robins)
Active-books, among which it is worth noting "The world around the baby" from the Robins series. The book consists of game tasks, supplemented by pages for coloring and stickers. Performing simple tasks, the child learns to compare the properties of animals, to compare with other representatives of the animal world, learns new animals.
Designed for three years and older. What skills helps to develop: fine motor skills, perception, memory, imagination, logical thinking, attention.
The activist book includes: funny bright pictures, school paraphernalia and wildlife, nature, first items.
Series “School of the Seven Dwarfs” (Mosaic-Synthesis)
For 3-4 years, select the book "The development of speech." The first collection - "The development of speech 3+". It features a rich set of entertaining games with their detailed description. Allows you to teach your child to accurately and accurately express their thoughts out loud, helps to replenish vocabulary. The texts of the tasks are supplemented with a variety of stickers in the form of cheerful gnomes. The gameplay fascinates children, and gnomes make it easier to assimilate developmental materials.
Second compilation - "The development of speech 4+". It consists of 14 lessons, teaching word formation. The manual introduces the crumbs with the same sound words, but mean different actions and objects. Examples of antonyms, irreplaceable nouns are given, preparing the little man for the rules and basics of the Russian language. Materials submitted in the form of a game, the most accessible to a child at this age.
"Account, form, size" (3+ and 4+) - Another collection of the series, preparing for the development of various mathematical operations. He teaches counting, helps to learn to distinguish and compare such concepts as "many" and "one". Leads to the development of "equality" and "inequality", sorting objects by size and shape. Enriches vocabulary with words such as “thicker”, “shorter”, “thinner”, “longer”.
My first discoveries (Clover Media Group)

Dry figures appear before the child in the form of bright components of the surrounding world. Learning the basics of mathematics, the baby learns the choice and comparison, reflection and grouping. The collection helps:
- get a first glimpse of math
- learn the score with small numbers

Notebook "Know the world. 4-5 years " also part of the My First Discoveries series from the Klever Media Group. Consists of 4 sections: writing, reading, mathematics and the world around us. Sections are united by a common task - to push the kid to an expanded knowledge of the world.
The tasks cited in the notebooks can be performed not in a row, but by focusing on the interest of a son or daughter. For the convenience of mastering the materials sections are marked with different backgrounds, color display, funny character. Such a design makes it easier for parents to work with exercise books.
